About the Work
Briefly, the overall approach to the work with the churches in the islands is three-part:
EVANGELIZE
There are many ways time could be spent on the mission field. We must keep the top priority setting up and conducting Bible studies. The people in Micronesia have not had the exposure to the church that most people in America have had. The don’t know what the church of Christ is nor what we teach. It is imperative that we reach out to all we can as strong as we can.
EDIFY
After people are baptized they need to be edified and equipped. To edify them is to build them up. It involved strengthening them in the faith and preparing them to face the trials of Satan on their own. In Chuuk, Palau and Yap they will not have help from us but one week every two or three months, so the need to ground and establish the brethren is great.
EQUIP
In addition to strengthening the churches we must equip them. They must be taught how to lead the worship services, including how to conduct the Lord’s Supper, lead singing, take up the contribution, and how to prepare lessons and preach. We must also teach them how to teach Bible classes, what to do with the contribution, how to set up and conduct one-on-one Bible studies and other things as well. As you can see, there is a great amount of teaching to do.
